Advertising is one of the most important factors behind the success of any product today. The quality of a product may be superb, but if it fails to create a buzz in the market in terms of visibility and covetability, it is more or less written off.

I read this story in a mail and felt like sharing it THE SITUATION In Washington , DC , at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule. About 4 minutes later: The violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk. At 6 minutes: A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him...

If the clients are extra-ordinarily clear about their own requirements, why do they need you? They can as well break the work in portions and get the desired outcome at a cost-effective way. Sustenance of your business interests would be at stake...

Received this as an email, thought of sharing it here..   A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She reduced altitude and spotted a man below. She descended a bit more and shouted, 'Excuse me Sir, can you help me? I promised a friend, I would meet him an hour ago but I don't know where I am.'   The man below replied, 'You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude.'   ''You must be an engineer,' said the lady balloonist.   'I am', replied the man. 'How did you know?'   ''Well', answered the lady in the balloon, 'everything you told me is technically correct...

With the change in economic trends and the share of service industry in the economy moving up I think its a valid response. There has been a shift in the consumer preferences in recent past too, more of us are looking for better services and warranties...

Indian market is different and I presume people choose cost over service. They would be delighted to buy something comparatively cheap without a thought of customer sevice.
