Segregation of Telecom Service Provision and Network Operation. In spite of the few hiccups in the beginning, the privatization has pushed Telecom business in India making the services available and affordable to common man. However, giving license to more and more companies would not be ideal at this point of time. There was a time the monopoly telecom provider could not meet the needs of a growing country. Things have changed; there are enough Service Providers now who can jointly meet the growing need.  Too many new Networks put pressure on the business viability of the industry, the availability of spectrum etc. Lowering of returns and margins will kill the initiative to innovate and pr...

I don't thinnk Telecom domain will have any recession in the next 5years. Now the telecom is stepping into different path. Still we haven't seen how efficiently medical devices can use networks.

Yes the Telecom industry is no exception for recession. It clearly shows in the Telecom providers plans of postponing the expansions. May be the subscribers does not cut their calls but surely restrict them.

Ten commandments for India Telecom evolution. ( A consolidated view on the issues related to Pan-India telecom and e-Business growth.) Aut hor: Abraham Paul   MD  FCOMNET  1. Scrap Boundaries within the nation. Treat the country as one service area.               Allow Interconnects between own and other Service Provider networks. Review NLD policy. NLD licensing in the present form is an impractical concept and need to have a re-look.  Allow common Charging Gateways to enable revenue sharing between stake holders.     2. Segregate the business of Network Operation and Service Provision.  These are different ball games. Each will do better when conceptually segregated and managed separa...

It is my opinion that in order for WiMAX to gain popularity, the three largest mobile-subscriber-capacity countries in the world today, China, the US, and India, have to provide global interoperability in the same frequency range.I am borrowing the quote of Neil Armstrong where when landing on the moon he stated: 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind', WiMAX in idia is that big step.. There is no doubt that WiMAX is the way forward, in case India needs to reach out to all of its population within the stipulated time frame, it needs to act now... The Government's move to establish over one lakh community service centers would be the right approach for spreading broadband...
